Comfort First: My Tips for Looking Cute Without Trying Too Hard

Most of the time, I don’t feel like squeezing into a short skirt, tight jeans, or heels. Comfort is key, but I also don’t want to look like I just rolled out of bed. My worn-in t-shirt and ten year old pajama pants are insanely cozy, and honestly, I wish I could wear them everywhere. But what if I told you that you can be comfortable and cute at the same time?

Here are some tips to help you pull it off:

  • Matching sets: A cozy matching lounge set instantly looks more put together than random pieces.
  • Stick to neutral or cohesive color palettes: This keeps your outfit looking intentional. Wearing an all-black outfit looks more put together than wearing a random mix of colors or prints that don’t really go together.
  • Swap pajama pants for wide-leg sweats or yoga pants: Just as comfy, but look way more elevated
  • Swap skinny jeans for baggy or slouchy denim: Hear me out. I used to think jeans were the most uncomfortable thing ever until I found the right pair of low-rise, loose-fitting jeans. The right fit can feel almost as comfy as sweatpants. You could even wear them to the airport.
  • Accessorize: Take an extra minute to throw on some hoops, a necklace, and a cute shoulder bag. It instantly elevates a basic outfit. If you want to take it a step further, do your hair too

To give you a better idea of what I mean, here are a few of my go-to outfit combos:

Baggy jeans paired with a simple tee, long sleeve, or tank.

Wide-leg sweatpants or yoga pants paired with a comfy top of your choice. You can never go wrong with a monochromatic look.

Overall, as long as you’re comfortable and feel confident in what you’re wearing, that’s all that really matters.
